Hummers are back in the Homestead! Seems a little early, but just had one fly by looking for the feeders I usually don't put out for another week or so. Quickly made some sugar water and have 2 feeders out now.

Thanks for posting this. I was just thinking about getting the feeders out and cleaning them. I think my first one last year was on April 23, so it's about that time again! Maybe they're a little early because all this wind blew them up here.

Seems like they usually follow the first Spring wildflowers into the high country. If the small handful of Pasque flowers scattered around mean much, it will be awhile before we see hummingbirds up here at 9,000 feet. They will need food and probably can't count on many people to be paying attention.

First sighting this morning!!!! Four days earlier than the two previous years. Wow. We are in Burland at 8300. Put the feeder out just last Friday, thinking I'm too early but just on time. Love it.

I read these posts 2 weeks ago and put out our hummingbird feeder but have yet to see any! Are we just not in the loop of their restaurants this year or have they not shown up at other people's homes yet as well?......Also, we have been having evening grosbeaks for quite a while--years ago we had black headed grosbeaks but not now, do the evening grosbeaks tend to keep the black headed ones away?

We haven't seen any hummingbirds yet either.
