I handle Title ix reporting for athletics.
Students… the alleged beneficiaries of these reports rarely, if ever look at the reports. The number of data points is greater our number of athletes . It is an exceptionally pointless report. I do believe in Title ix when it comes to harassment, rape, etc.. However, even that part can be oppressive and abusive… to schools and students. |

The Olympics committee goes to court in Europe ( although US Olympic committee would go to court in the US)
My rants are triggered by my home state’s recent enthusiasm for fighting the (misguided) Biden dear colleague (extra constitutional) letters to schools on going from sex discrimination to gender discrimination. Biden is reversing Trump, who reversed Obama. All of this is related to replacing the word “sex” with the word “gender” in Title ix policy… which has little if any place in sports (my sentiment…. Obviously activists and policy makers disagree) I cannot begin to tell you how much I loathe this. It makes it harder to run a sports program. I almost understand applicability to Division I schools. Whatsamatta U, enrollment 2300 students, really does not need the 3-5 person overhead . |
