Wildland fire near I-70 near the 600 block of Chickadee Road in Genessee.

6th Ave. closed in both directions between 119, 58 and 93.

According to JeffCo Health Department, the smoke could cause respiratory issues, like Asthma.

The fire is at 25 acres and 10% contained. 6th Avenue remains closed in both directions between CO 119 and CO 58; CO 93, indefinitely.
Fire is burning about one mile east of tunnel 2 on U.S. 6 west of Golden in Clear Creek Canyon. Wind gusting up to 30 mph is pushing the fire up the backside of Mt. Vernon and creating large flames off the top of burning trees yesterday afternoon. Nine agencies have been on scene including Inter-Canyon, Indian Hills, Evergreen, South West Metro, Genessee, Foothills, Clear Creek County. 50 fire fighters remained on scene overnight. A second helicopter has been requested to make water drops. There have been no evacuations, though pre-evacuation notices have been sent. No structures are threatened. Closest house is 0.6 mile away. ETA: It is too early to speculate when 6th Avenue will reopened. _________________ The life you’ve led doesn’t have to be the only life you live. |
