Just had one this morning. Taking a bath in the bird bath. Had taken in all feeders yesterday due to bees.

October 4th and they're still stopping by for rest and some fuel. Three today and four yesterday. 3-4 minutes resting in aspen, then fast food dining on a cloud of midges that were hatching and a sugary slurpy to top it off....then they were gone.

This morning several hummers are still feeding from our deck plants as if it were August. Isn't it unusual to have hummers still hanging around in mid-October?

Yes. In my first home here there was an occasional year where I’d see one or two migrators in mid Oct.
certainly wasn’t the norm. End of September to a few days into October was typical. But I’ve only been here 20 years, so there’s that … |
