I have about 10 visits a day. Hopefully they are scouts and will bring more. I always put my feeders out a few moments before dawn. For a couple years I had 20 that would swarm around me to get to them just minutes later. It was a magical experience!

I wonder if it's the drought & lack of flowers.......??? I haven't had many at all up here, in fact it feels like there are only 2 or three. "Mine" usually show up around Tax Day, this year I didn't hear them until about 05/05. I miss them!!!! Come on rain!!!! Doing my best rain dance! (without lightning!) :calvin: :rain: :rain: :rain:

We've counted only about 4. The Grosbeaks are making up for the lack of hummers, big time.

Tons of them here! Mostly males. You can almost set your watch by what time they come to eat! I saw a teeny tiny one in my lilacs. Not sure if it’s a baby, or a different one than a female ruby?

It was an adult, birds leave the nest full size.

I just read this in the “Only in Your State” daily (highly recommended!). It talks about the massive hummer migration lasting through September. Do they mean just in the city, or is my memory that bad? I don’t remember getting more than usual that late. Here’s what it says:

Quote:
Spanning from late August through most of September is the hummingbird fall migration when tens of thousands of these tiny birds begin their annual trip back to Mexico and Central America.

Suddenly there are NO hummingbirds here this morning. Was there a special bus out of Bailey overnight??

Yesterday, I saw several of the hummers with sticks and a little sag tided on it. Looked like they were headed someplace.
