A man broke into their home and found her asleep on the couch. He was pretty much caught in the act by her Mom and a friend, who held him for police...after using a little force to hold him there. He is in jail and she was just released from the hospital but is not going home "ever again".

She has always been quite timid and withdrawn, so needs every bit of help she can get. Prayers for all concerned please.

The guy is being charged with a sexual crime of violence under a $100,000 bond.

Good grief, VH!!! That is just terrible! Prayers that your grandneice and her family get the support that they should have to get them through this!

So, so sorry to hear this! I think he should be shot - but that's neither here nor there. The courts will deal with him. Mountain Peace is a wonderful suggestion. They also have many places down in Denver to help your grandniece. Hopefully, her parents will get her all the help that is out there. All I can give are prayers for healing - they are going her way and to you and the entire family.

We will keep her in our thoughts and prayers. She will need strong family and friends support though all of this.

Oh VH, I am holding up this child in prayer and her family as well, for comfort, guidance and healing and strength to see this through.

Just an update, of sorts. She has gone to stay with her dad in Ft. Collins and her mom is 'thinking' of moving. No one is saying much so I don't know if she is talking to anyone or what. I just know she doesn't want to go back to that home/neighborhood. Guess her alleged attacker's family lives real close too.

They are having the preliminary hearing this week. A special sex crimes prosecutor is handling it and is insisting on no plea bargains offered and none accepted.

Our girl seems to be handling this all pretty well and has been traveling the country with her other grandma, visiting a lot of family and such. If she feels anything, it seems to be anger right now. She wants to confront him. I betcha she gets her chance one day, too.

I sure hope she is getting some counseling. Any traumatic event, especially rape, has a lifelong impact on the victim. Counseling will help.
I certainly hope she can overcome this tragedy and go on to live a happy and fulfilling life.
