Contact your insurance agent, homeowners or auto, there's usually a notary there. Plus its free!

The official duties of a Notary Public have changed. The Colorado Secretary of State's website sets forth the details. Please don't be offended when we have to ask for identification, a signature in our little log, an address and all that. Due to some abuses in the process, Notaries are more strictly regulated than we used to be, it's not that we've become more suspicious or something.

My first seal was one of those metal hand-press things that you crunched onto the page, and my commission expired in 1976. I thought "wow, that is so far away, I can't even imagine it being 1976." Now I throw the old stamps away or there would be a stack of them by now. "How time flies."

In case anybody is interested, the process now contemplates that if there's a question about whether the Notary actually stamped and signed a document, the State can demand the Notary's log to see if he or she recorded acting in that official capacity on the date the signature was supposedly applied. The State can audit any Notary's log on a random basis to make sure there is one.

Good morning!

Does anyone know of a Notary Public in the Bailey/Pine/Conifer area?

For the first time in nearly twenty years up here I have need of one (quickly) and the phone book only lists one in Evergreen. I'll go there if necessary but would rather not if one is closer.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Greg :)

I've always gone to the one at UPS in Aspen Park, but they're not free.

Just used them recently (we needed to print and fax something too) - it was $5/document for the notary services, not bad all things considered and they are open pretty late.
