About 9 years ago we found out we had really high radon levels in our well water. We had Culligan in Denver put a supposed mitigation system in. That consisted of a water softener (promised to remove at least 95% of the radon) plus an RO tap for drinking. So, we were stupid and didn't have the water retested after the system was put in. I recently tested our water and it turns out the Culligan system does NOTHING to remove radon. A little gets removed by the RO system but it is still very high. It turns out this Culligan business was a franchise, so we weren't dealing with a big corporation, and now has been sold to someone else. I have been in touch with the new owners. They were very nice, but I don't think they are going to fix this for free since it wasn't their problem. I believe we were deceived about the Culligan system taking the radon out because the new business owner said that water softening doesn't remove radon. I'd like to go to someone that has the experience in getting radon out of water, and will have fair prices.

Can anyone help by recommending someone?

Thanks!

We had Geo Water try to sell us a water softener system to raise our ph. We told them to take a hike and we bought and installed a calcite tank ourselves and got our ph from 6.2 to 7.0
Do your homework so you will know if you are being taken for ride. here is a good place to start

this is who we got our neutralizer tank from. They are VERY knowledgeable. You may want to call them and get some insight

You might call Chuck Minott with Aegis Water Systems.
706 Graphite Way, Superior, CO 80027

I bought a whole house softener/filter from him several years back which worked really well for my last house near Tiny Town. Checked with him not long ago about getting the new version of my old system for my current house in KV. He had one which is supposed to be able to remove radio active particulates and was reasonably priced for everything it does, ~ $2250ish. I don't recall any details other than Nasa used it on space shuttles. Ultimately I passed on it since Kings Valley upgraded their system with an industrial strength filter that specifically removes radioactive particulates. Had they not done so I would have had Chuck install the new version of my old softener/filter.

Hope this helps,
Lion

Simply "Google How to remove Radon from water"
and you will find that there is only one Practical
way to remove radon from domestic water (Charcoal filtering)

The other option (whole house aeration) is not very practical

Also be aware that the risk from radon is only in inhaling
the gas so your exposure is mostly from taking a shower as
opposed to taking a bath. Especially if you fill the bathtub
and have a nearby window open as Radon dissipates very
readily in free air

I am assuming you have had a Radon screen test in your
home and mitigated that if the levels were excessive

Radon in the air is much more of an issue than it is in water

Yes we have mitigation for the indoor air. And yes we are mostly concerned about inhaling radon during showers. Thanks for the info.
