Ingredients:
Pastry:
1 large cup flour
1 cup milk
1/2 cup lard or butter
pinch of salt
Filling:
Chopped apples
cinnamon
melted butter
Cooking Instructions:
Cut butter or lard into dry ingredients to consistency of coarse crumbs, add milk and mix well.

Roll thin on floured board, cover with chopped apples, cinnamon and melted butter

Roll up jelly roll fashion. Cut into about 1-1/2" slices, similar to cinnamon rolls.

Next make syrup:

Syrup:

1-1/2 cups sugar

1 cup water

2 heaping tablespoons of butter

Bring syrup to a boil and place in baking dish, lay rolls on top, bake about 350 to 375 until done.

Additional Comments:

This is vague, but it's an old recipe and most were not very specific. Women used what was on hand and improvised when necessary. It seems to be simple enough to follow, especially since it resembles cinnamon roll recipes.
