| Ingredients: |
1 cup butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 egg
1/2 cup sour cream
1 tsp vanilla |
4 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp nutmeg |

Instructions: |
Cream butter and sugar. Add egg then sour cream and vanilla extract. Sift four, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and nutmeg. Add to butter mixture. Chill until firm. Divide dough into 4 parts. Roll a part 1/4 inch thick and cut out cookies. Place on lightly greased cookie sheet. Sprinkle with sugar, if desired. Return dough unused dough to refrigerator to rechill. Repeat with remaining dough. Bake at 375?F for 10 - 12 minutes. Cool on wire rack. |

| To make colored sugar, put about 1/4 granulated sugar in a small jar. Add 1 - 2 drops of food coloring to the jar and shake well. You can make various colored sugars to put on these cookies for Christmas. |
