Scones
Recipe Number: 174

Serves: 8-10
Calories Per Serving:
Preparation Time: 15 mins
Difficulty: Easy
Ingredients:
4 cups flour
3 TBS sugar
3 tsp baking powder
6 TBS butter or margarine
1 1/2 cup raisins
2 eggs
1 cup milk
Cooking Instructions:
Preheat oven to 425 degrees.

Mix all the dry ingredients except raisins. I use a heavy duty Kitchenaid mixer with the big white blade attachment. The dough should be very hard.

Cut in butter by hand (don't put in melted butter). To cut in, slice butter and mash into flour with a fork.

Add raisins and mix until evenly distributed.

Roll out on cutting board to about 1 inch thick.

Cut scone shapes with scone cutter or large drinking glass.

Bake on cookie sheet for 10 to 12 minutes
Serving Suggestions:
Break open and serve with preserves or marmalade.

If you really want to go the British route, open and top with clotted cream.
Additional Comments:
This is my British father-in-law's recipe and these are the best scones I've ever had.>
