Does anyone else still have tannins tinting their well water? I know when Spring comes to Bailey every year when the ground thaws and the tannins trapped in the ground find their way into my well, but the water has returned to its crystal clear clarity by now in years past.

If the tint is gone from the vast majority of wells, I might have to look at raising the height of my pump a few feet since the tint would be associated, not with tannins, but with the pump cycling stirring the sediment at the bottom of the well.

The more replies I have to my query, the better I will understand the situation; so I thank you in advance for taking the time to respond.

If it’s any help at all, I clean a house that sits low in the water table here in KZ ranch.
The toilets are darkened between cleanings from the tannins in their well water, still.

I've only had slight staining the last couple years. Not enough snow for a real spring runoff. I am at 8,300' a couple miles south of Windy Point.

over in evergreen meadows, and I still do too, but I suspect with the lack of rain over the last week, it'll start to clear now. it could be worse, we could live down the hill. :)

Thanks for the responses! My water started clearing up this weekend too, so I'm less worried that it was well sediment. I wasn't seeing sediment in filter, but it's better to ask than wonder.
I'm still not sure why a persistent well tannin question belongs in the FAQs and a Pine Pollen question stays in the Living Room, but it would be a fair statement to say that not many people share my way of thinking . . .
