Post subject:  Repairing a wooden screen door

I have one of those older type wooden screen doors and no matter what size rubber spline I get to keep the screen in place, after some time the spline works loose and the screen starts working its way out. I was wondering if I could put in a bead of silicone either below or on top of the spline to keep it in place or if I could staple through the spline into the wood. Any thoughts or other suggestions?

Staples will eventually tear the screen, but you could try. I suggest using "hot glue" with a hot glue gun application AFTER setting the screen in place.
